Luke 13:1-9
Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
He said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way
they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them–
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”
And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard,
and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none,
he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree
but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not you can cut it down.’”

Magsisi o Mapahamak
Sa oras na iyon, naroroon ang ilan na nagsalaysay sa kaniya patungkol sa mga taga-Galilea. Ang dugo nila ay inihalo ni Pilato sa kanilang mga hain. Sa pagsagot ni Jesus, sinabi niya sa kanila: Sa palagay ba ninyo ang mga taga-Galileang ito ang pinakamakasalanan sa lahat ng mga taga-Galilea dahil dinanas nila ang mga bagay na ito? Sinasabi ko sa inyo: Hindi! Malibang magsisi kayo, lahat kayo ay mapapahamak sa ganitong paraan. May labingwalong tao ang nabagsakan ng tore sa Siloe at namatay? Sa palagay ba ninyo ay higit silang may pagkakautang sa Diyos kaysa lahat ng nanirahan sa Jerusalem? Sinasabi ko sa inyo: Hindi! Malibang magsisi kayo, lahat kayo ay mapapahamak sa ganitong paraan.
At sinabi ni Jesus ang talinghagang ito: May isang lalaking nagtanim ng igos sa kaniyang ubasan. Pumunta siya roon at naghanap ng bunga at wala siyang nakita. Sinabi niya sa tagapag-alaga ng ubasan: Narito, tatlong taon na akong pumaparito na naghahanap ng bunga ng puno ng igos na ito at wala akong nakitang bunga. Putulin mo iyan. Bakit sinasayang niya ang lupa?
Sumagot ang tagapag-alaga at sinabi: Panginoon, pabayaan mo muna iyan diyan sa taong ito, hanggang mahukay ko ang paligid nito at lagyan ng pataba. Maaring ito ay magbunga, ngunit kung hindi, saka mo na ito putulin. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Our Gospel for Oct 22. Signs of the Times.
Luke 12:54-59
Signs of the Times.
Jesus said to the crowds,
“When you see a cloud rising in the west
you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does;
and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south
you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is.
You hypocrites!
You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky;
why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate,
make an effort to settle the matter on the way;
otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge,
and the judge hand you over to the constable,
and the constable throw you into prison.
I say to you, you will not be released
until you have paid the last penny.”
Lucas 12:54-59
Pagbibigay-kahulugan sa Kapanahunan.
Sinabi rin niya sa karamihan: Kapag nakita ninyo ang ulap na tumataas mula sa kanluran, agad ninyong sinasabi: Uulan. At ito ay nangyayari. Kapag umihip ang hanging timugan, sinasabi ninyong, iinit, at ito ay nangyayari. Mga mapagpaimbabaw! Alam ninyong kilalanin ang anyo ng langit at ng lupa. Bakit hindi ninyo alam kilalanin ang panahong ito?
Bakit maging sa inyong mga sarili ay hindi ninyo mahatulan kung ano ang matuwid? Sa iyong pagpunta sa harap ng hukom kasama ng nagsasakdal sa iyo, sikapin mong sa daan pa lang ay makipagkasundo ka na sa kaniya. Kung hindi ganito, ay kakaladkarin ka niya patungo sa hukom at ang hukom ang magsusuko sa iyo sa tanod na siyang magpapabilanggo sa iyo. Sinasabi ko sa inyo, Kailanman ay hindi ka makakalabas doon hanggang hindi mo nababayaran ang huling sentimo.

Our Gospel for Oct 21. Jesus: A Cause of Division.
Lk 12:49-53
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Lucas 12:49-53
Hindi Kapayapaan Kundi Pagkakahati-hati.
Ako ay narito upang maghagis ng apoy sa lupa. Ano pa ang nanaisin ko kapag ito ay nagniningas na? Ako ay may bawtismo na ibabawtismo sa akin, at ako may nababagabag hanggang sa ito ay maganap. Sa palagay ba ninyo ay naparito ako upang magbigay ng kapayapaan sa lupa. Sinasabi ko sa inyo: Hindi. Ako ay narito upang maghati. Ito ay sapagkat simula ngayon, ang lima na nasa isang sambahayan ay magkakabaha-bahagi, tatlo laban sa dalawa at dalawa laban sa tatlo. Ang ama ay magiging laban sa anak na lalaki at ang anak na lalaki laban sa ama. Ang ina ay magiging laban sa anak na babae at ang anak na babae laban sa ina. Ang biyenang babae ay magiging laban sa kaniyang manugang na babae at ang manugang na babae laban sa kaniyang biyenang babae.

Our Gospel for October 20. Wait and be prepared.
Luke 12: 39-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be sure of this:
if the master of the house had known the hour
when the thief was coming,
he would not have let his house be broken into.
You also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Then Peter said,
“Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?”
And the Lord replied,
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward
whom the master will put in charge of his servants
to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him
in charge of all his property.
But if that servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed in coming,’
and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
to eat and drink and get drunk,
then that servant’s master will come
on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
and will punish the servant severely
and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
That servant who knew his master’s will
but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
shall be beaten severely;
and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will
but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
shall be beaten only lightly.
Much will be required of the person entrusted with much,
and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”

“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”
Jesus said to his disciples:
