 Luke 15:1-32
"Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." So to them he addressed this parable. "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
"Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it? And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.' In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
Then he said, "A man had two sons, and the younger son said to his father, 'Father give me the share of your estate that should come to me.' So the father divided the property between them. After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings and set off to a distant country where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation. When he had freely spent everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he found himself in dire need. So he hired himself out to one of the local citizens who sent him to his farm to tend the swine. And he longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed, but nobody gave him any. Coming to his senses he thought, 'How many of my father's hired workers have more than enough food to eat, but here am I, dying from hunger. I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I no longer deserve to be called your son; treat me as you would treat one of your hired workers."' So he got up and went back to his father. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. His son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.' But his father ordered his servants, 'Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.' Then the celebration began. Now the older son had been out in the field and, on his way back, as he neared the house, he heard the sound of music and dancing. He called one of the servants and asked what this might mean. The servant said to him, 'Your brother has returned and your father has slaughtered the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.' He became angry, and when he refused to enter the house, his father came out and pleaded with him. He said to his father in reply, 'Look, all these years I served you and not once did I disobey your orders; yet you never gave me even a young goat to feast on with my friends. But when your son returns, who swallowed up your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf.' He said to him, 'My son, you are here with me always; everything I have is yours. But now we must celebrate and rejoice, because your brother was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.'"

    • Edgardo Lucena These are the parables of Love and Mercy. God is a good shepherd and whatever it takes to get you back he will not forsake you nor leave you because he is a caring God. Regardless of the number of times we fail Him, he is always willing to forgive, as long as we have a sincere heart, asking for forgiveness. God bless you all!

Luke 7:1-10
"When Jesus had finished all his words to the people, he entered Capernaum. A centurion there had a slave who was ill and about to die, and he was valuable to him. When he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and save the life of his slave. They approached Jesus and strongly urged him to come, saying, "He deserves to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation and he built the synagogue for us." And Jesus went with them, but when he was only a short distance from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof. Therefore, I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the word and let my servant be healed. For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this he was amazed at him and, turning, said to the crowd following him, "I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith." When the messengers returned to the house, they found the slave in good health."

The Christian value of Faith in God enables us Christians to be patient and persevere even though Jesus promises of eternal life is unseen and unrealized in this present time.

If we have faith even as small as a mustard seed, this will sol...ve all our problems in life. Our Faith also enables us to do good to one another and strive to be true Christians in the eyes of our lord.

Our Faith also makes us happy and fulfilled in every moment of our lives.

"Lord give us the strength to carry on and give us a trusting heart to rely on you. In Jesus name. Amen!

Juan 3:13-17

Amen!

God bless you too Mayeth. Sa totoo lang, sa dami ng mga pinag daanan nating mga trials, we become closer to Him. Di ba kung minsan pag marami tayong blessings and lalo na pag marami tayong pera parang masyado tayong abala sa ibat ibang bag...ay like parties, shopping, happenings and we end up tired and just say a little prayer and go straight to bed? Parang konti lang yung time natin to pray and thank Him, but pag may mabigat tayong problema mas madalas tayong magdasal? That's why trials makes us closer to Him. It's a wake up call from God.
You're right in saying that you will forever thank Him for all the things He's done for you , I agree because Thanksgiving is the core of our prayers. We should forever Thank him for all the wonderful things He has done for us and for our family. Thank you for your refection.

John 19:25-27

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

‎"Honor your father and your mother, that you may have a long life in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you." Exodus 20:12

I remember this verse when I read today's gospel.

Oftentimes, due to the complexities of life and the Zoom g...eneration, we tend to take our parents for granted. What's worst is that, sometimes we forget to honor them.

As a child and now a parent to my own children, I pray lord God that I may always be a good father, and if there are shortcomings I may have intentionally or unintentionally committed to my parents, I ask for your forgiveness.

Some of us may not be lucky enough to see our parents around anymore. While you still can, show them your love, your care, your patience and your understanding. And God will bless you for it.

      Amen!

Luke 8:1-3
"Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources."

Lenny (my wife) reflection on today's gospel:

Bilang isang babae, isang ina at asawa.

Amen

Luke 8:4-15
When a large crowd gathered, with people from one town after another journeying to Jesus, he spoke in a parable. "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path and was trampled, and the birds of the sky ate it up. Some seed fell on rocky ground, and when it grew, it withered for lack of moisture. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some seed fell on good soil, and when it grew, it produced fruit a hundredfold." After saying this, he called out, "Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear."

Then his disciples asked him what the meaning of this parable might be. He answered, "Knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God has been granted to you; but to the rest, they are made known through parables so that they may look but not see, and hear but not understand.

"This is the meaning of the parable. The seed is the word of God. Those on the path are the ones who have heard, but the Devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts that they may not believe and be saved. Those on rocky ground are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy, but they have no root; they believe only for a time and fall away in time of temptation. As for the seed that fell among thorns, they are the ones who have heard, but as they go along, they are choked by the anxieties and riches and pleasures of life, and they fail to produce mature fruit. But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit through perseverance."

My reflection:

Amen!

Luke 16:1-13
Jesus said to his disciples, "A rich man had a steward who was reported to him for squandering his property. He summoned him and said, 'What is this I hear about you? Prepare a full account of your stewardship, because you can no longer be my steward.' The steward said to himself, 'What shall I do, now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me? I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg. I know what I shall do so that, when I am removed from the stewardship, they may welcome me into their homes.' He called in his master's debtors one by one. To the first he said, 'How much do you owe my master?' He replied, 'One hundred measures of olive oil.' He said to him, 'Here is your promissory note. Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.' Then to another the steward said, 'And you, how much do you owe?' He replied, 'One hundred kors of wheat.' The steward said to him, 'Here is your promissory note; write one for eighty.' And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently. "For the children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than are the children of light. I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones; and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones. If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth? If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours? No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and mammon."

(Lenny's) reflection:

Amen! God bless you!

Luke 8:16-18
Jesus said to the crowd: "No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light. Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away."

My reflection!

We are all special in the eyes of God and he has created us for a purpose. To know our purpose in life, we just have to search it, test it, research it, and when we find our purpose in life, we should use it to bless other people.

Some of us are lucky to find our purpose early in life and some of us, find their real purpose just when they are about to leave their earthly bodies.

This is the story of Joey Velasco, a painter who in his early life does not know how to use a paintbrush, but was given the talent to show to the world how lucky we are.

Joey Velasco had a near-fatal illness that afflicted him four years ago. He underwent a major operation, causing him the loss of his left kidney. He was devastated. He slumped into a depression like being trapped in a dark, lonely, deep well. He totally withdrew from the world – from his work and social life – he avoided any contact with his friends and even his family – locking himself in one room as a total recluse. He prayed that God could throw him a rope for him to get out of darkness, and he was ready to catch it even if it was laced with broken glass. But instead of a rope, the Lord reached out through the paintbrush and he grabbed it. He finally saw light and new life

Please check this video.

The life of Joey Velasco is a story of purpose, and as long as we pursue it to find happiness, no matter how difficult  or how devastated our life situation is, we will find peace and a grateful heart. Like Joey.

God bless!

 Matthew 9:9-13
As Jesus passed by, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me." And he got up and followed him. While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" He heard this and said, "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."

My reflection:

God bless you!

Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

My reflection:

I went to mass today, and this is the reflection of Fr. Tony Labiao, Jr., our Parish priest at Saint Peter Parish, Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

He said there are 2 points of reflection on today's Gospel; first is the summoning of the Twelve and empowering them to start the Evangelization process. By empowerment, Fr. Tony meant that Jesus did not gave the Twelve just a seminar but a "formation."

Jesus lived and ate amongst the Twelve apostle and He showed them how to spread the "Word of God" while they listen and learned.

Second is the instruction: He said "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.

Fr. Tony said that when we serve God, we should not carry too much baggage or too many if's and but's feelings. What we should do is to leave it all behind and concentrate on our mission to serve, to love and to do sacrifices.

To add to what Fr. Tony said, I think we should also improve on our "Trust" side. We should totally rely on God because that is what He wanted us to do when we serve Him.

Maybe some of us are "half hearted" when the issue of Trust comes knocking on our doors. When we think that God is not doing anything on our problems or concerns, we tend to do it all by ourselves as human as we are.

But He said, "Be still and know that I am the Lord."

I remember a Catholic Lay Preacher who was invited to give a "talk" to a community in Bicol. Having short of transportation fund, he was able to raise just enough money going to Bicol.  Now his problem is the transportation money going back to Manila.
Trusting the Lord, He said that "God will provide the rest." So he rode the bus to Bicol and arrived at the place where he will give the talk. After his successful talk to the community, the organizer handed him an envelope where he thought contains the transportation money to buy his ticket to Manila.  On the bus home, he opened the envelope and to his surprise found that the money is not enough to pay his ticket to Manila. Saddened by the situation, he alighted the bus and started walking home. It was about 3 in the afternoon. While walking, he was praying to God, that he will be able to get back to Manila. After several kilometers of walking, and it was really getting dark in the middle of nowhere, a car stopped by him and told him, "You are the Preacher that gave the talk to us right?" Hop in. We're going to Manila. Where are you going? Why are you walking? To cut the long story short, although a bit embarassed, he told them the truth. In the end he was able to come back to Manila, safe and sound.

But life must go on for this faithful servant of God, that although he experienced such embarassment, he never thought that his God has failed him, since he was able to come back to Manila.

After a week of that incident, he received another invitation from another community. This time it is not located in the South or North of Manila but it was based in California, USA. Plane ticket and advance pocket money is on the way.

God is so good! All the time! God bless you all!

Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was happening, and he was greatly perplexed because some were saying, "John has been raised from the dead"; others were saying, "Elijah has appeared"; still others, "One of the ancient prophets has arisen." But Herod said, "John I beheaded. Who then is this about whom I hear such things?" And he kept trying to see him.

Great spiritual leaders come and go. To name a few in the Bible, they were: Joshua, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Sirach, John the baptist, and the Twelve Apostles.

But the most loved of all is Jesus Christ, the redeemer of sin and our savior. ...

In the modern world, we have Gandhi, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Pope John Paul II and many others who in their own little way have shared and spread the Word of God.

I have seen kids as young as 13 years old as eloquent as a preacher sharing the "Word of God" on a bus. And I have seen transformation of people from being a "sinner" to becoming a servant of the lord.

Spiritual leaders will continue to come and go and I believe this is what God wants. He will not allow evil to prevail. If we look at the positive side of life, there are lots of good people around us performing the work of God.

Look around you. A good person is always with you.

God will prevail. God bless you!

Luke 9:18-22
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" They said in reply, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, 'One of the ancient prophets has arisen.'" Then he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said in reply, "The Christ of God." He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
He said, "The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."

Aking Pagninilay nilay:

Len (my wife) and I were able to attend mass at the Quiapo church this afternoon. It was a long drive from our place in Quezon City, but the experience was worth it, because we were also able to attend the Chaplets of Divine Mercy, a prayer similar to the
3 o'clock habit.

The Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno Basilica, also known as the Quiapo church, is always jam packed with devotees during Fridays. For those of you who have been to Quiapo church, you know what I am talking about.

The Gospel for today is all about Jesus Christ role in our life.

Amen!

God bless you all!

Len's reflection:

Amen! God bless!

Luke 9: 43-45
While they were all amazed at his every deed, Jesus said to his disciples, "Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men." But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

Amen!

      God bless you!

 Luke 16:19-31
Jesus said to the Pharisees: "There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day. And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.' Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.' He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.' But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.' He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

      my reflection...
Since i've heard and learn the gospel, the true salvation Im trying to do such good thing and if there are times that ive made mistakes or hurt anyone ill try to cover up what ive done wrong, i'll try to set it clear like ...what the gospel said. that's why the only one i ask for is to share the knowledge i have, if you made someone hurt, do something you have a chance to accept what youve done and say sorry. while you have a chance, do it now. just like the rich man he repent too late, he was not able to share the message or warn them whats waiting for them in 2nd life.See More

The message of our Gospel today says about a great "chasm" established between what looks like heaven and hell.

This part of the Gospel today struck me because it implies that once you're doomed, there's no chance of crossing to the other side which is comfort (heaven) from the torment of flames (hell). Hence, it leads us also that there is the presence of heaven and hell.

Second, the "sin" of ignoring a person who is in need of shelter, food and caring could also lead us to the "flames", although others believe that it's not our business anymore, but just like the rich person who shows no mercy, he ended up in the "torment of flames."

I believe it is everyone's responsibility to extend help whenever one is needed. Let's open up our hearts to the needy, the poor, and the sick. So that we may continue receiving God's blessing.

Lord, I pray that we strive to help people in need, as often as we can and bless us with compassion to enable us to extend the sincere service of helping other people.

      God bless!

The feeling is mutual sis. Sa Bible sharing it's not important kung magkakaiba tayo ng interpretation. Maski nga sa mass, subukan mong magsimba ng magkasunod na Misa, You'll be surprised magkaiba ang sermon ng Pari. It's really amazing how ...God works. Everyday me ibat iba tayong natututunan sa kanya. You'll be more spiritual than religious.

God bless you and your family!

After all the talks i've heard, nalaman ko na you make your own life he...re on earth. If you want to be happy, gawin mo ang magagawa pa para maging happy ka. pagtanggap lang yun sa situation mo ngayon.we make our own decisions. if we want to make our life hell here on earth well, it's our choice. si Lord e laging andyan, if we need them. Pero sa mga decisions natin na kasama Siya e siguradong we will never go wrong. It's our choice.See More
