Lk 17:5-10 (NAB)
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith."
The Lord replied,
"If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry tree,
'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

"Who among you would say to your servant
who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field,
'Come here immediately and take your place at table'?
Would he not rather say to him,
'Prepare something for me to eat.
Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink.
You may eat and drink when I am finished'?
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you.
When you have done all you have been commanded,
say, 'We are unprofitable servants;
we have done what we were obliged to do.'"

Being servants of God, we are obliged to do what was commanded of us. We should not expect Thank you nor appreciation in return for all the good deeds we do, but rather, Thank the LORD that we were given the privilege to help other people.

If we receive the Thank you's and applauses, we already receive our payment. But greater rewards is expected if the one who will repay us from our good deeds is the LORD Almighty.

Many of us are so engrossed with public appreciation that we always expect to hear Thank you for big and little things we have done. This means that we put so much attention to ourselves and forget that what enables us to do good things is the creator Himself.

The parable of the talents teaches us that we should use our gifts, or own unique God given ability (Matt 25:15) whether mental, physical or material, in service to Christ, and we all will be rewarded the exact same way, as mentioned in Matthew 25:21;
His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'

This is truly the greatest reward that we should aspire for and this is what is more important than the thank you's and applauses that we receive here in earth.

God bless you!
