Our Gospel for Oct 29. Healing of the Man with Dropsy on the Sabbath.

Luke 14:1-6
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,
and the people there were observing him carefully.
In front of him there was a man suffering from dropsy.
Jesus spoke to the scholars of the law and Pharisees in reply, asking,
“Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath or not?”
But they kept silent; so he took the man and,
after he had healed him, dismissed him.
Then he said to them
“Who among you, if your son or ox falls into a cistern,
would not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?”
But they were unable to answer his question.

Si Jesus sa Bahay ng Isang Fariseo

Lucas 14:1-6

Our Gospel for today is somewhat related to our Gospel of Oct 25, (Cure of a Crippled Woman on Sabbath). Once again Jesus decries the belief that helping people is not considered as work, contrary to what the Pharisees believes.

Helping people in need does not need a set time schedule. You cannot tell someone that you will help them some other time because you have a busy schedule.

When someone asks for your help, drop what you're doing and extend whatever you can do to help the person. Helping other people is a privilege and sometimes they may not acknowledge your help or give you thanks, but that's okay because, we can rest assured that we have greater rewards waiting for us in heaven.

God bless us all!
