Our Gospel for Dec 19. The Birth of Jesus.

Jesus nativity
Mt 1:18-24

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about.
When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together,
she was found with child through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold,
the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,
“Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.
She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins.”
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall name him Emmanuel,
which means “God is with us.”
When Joseph awoke,
he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.

December 19 is the 4th Sunday of Advent and this is the last Sunday before Christmas day. Let me take this opportunity to greet you a meaningful Christmas.

Our Gospel for today is still focused on the obedience of St Joseph in rearing a child which was conceived by the holy spirit.

St Joseph took this experience by faith and total obedience to God.

There was a wealthy businessman in a mid-western town and he had signs printed and placed all over town. They stated that if any man in the town who owned debts, would come to his office on a certain day between nine and twelve in the morning, he would pay all their debts.

Naturally, that promise was the talk of the town. Very few believed it. They thought there was a catch somewhere.

That day came; the businessman sat in his office at nine. By ten, no one had come. At eleven a man was seen walking up and down outside, glancing occasionally at the office door. Finally, he opened it, put his head in, and asked, "Is it true that you will pay any man's debt?"

"That's right," the rich man replied. "Are you in debt?""I certainly am," the caller answered.

"Do you have along the bills or statements to prove it?"
The visitor produced the documents and the businessman wrote out a cheque covering all of them. Before twelve o'clock two other men came in, and also had their debts paid.
People outside could not believe it... and they tried to rush inside the rich man's office but there was no time left for them to have their bills paid.
-If people don't believe the goodness of man, how can they believe in the goodness of God?- Tonne

God bless you all more than you can ever imagine.
