Our Gospel for Dec 10. Excuses excuses, excuses!

Mt 11:16-19

Jesus said to the crowds:
“To what shall I compare this generation?
It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another,
‘We played the flute for you, but you did not dance,
we sang a dirge but you did not mourn.’
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they said,
‘He is possessed by a demon.’
The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they said,
‘Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard,
a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’
But wisdom is vindicated by her works.”

Mateo 11:16-19

When we have a closed heart we tend to make excuses for anything. We either disregard it or say something that would justify our actions towards the issue.

For example we say to ourselves: That particular church teaching does not apply to me or; perhaps to justify our illicit affair we say to ourselves: "What can I do i'm in love." Isn't it nice to be in love with another person even though I'm married?

Or to justify our padding of office transportation expenses, we tell ourselves, "this is just a small amount that I will add on to my expense report and I think it won't harm the company's bottom line."

These excuses are addictive and starts small but later on we become experts in doing so until it becomes a normal part of our daily life.

This advent season, let us open our hearts and stop making excuses. Let's face the reality. If what were doing is bad, stop doing it period. There should be no excuses. No ifs no buts.

Remember Mt 12:30 says: He who is not with me is against me.

God bless you all more than you can ever imagine!
