 Luke 13: 18-21

Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like?
To what can I compare it?
It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden.
When it was fully grown, it became a large bush
and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.”
Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
It is like yeast that a woman took
and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour
until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

Ang Talinghaga Patungkol sa Binhi ng Mustasa at sa Pampaalsa
 Lucas 13:18-21

Mustards are several plant species in the genera Brassica and Sinapis whose small mustard seeds are used as a spice and, by grinding and mixing them with water, vinegar or other liquids, are turned into the condiment known as mustard. The seeds are also pressed to make mustard oil, and the edible leaves can be eaten as mustard greens.

Maybe were asking why did Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to a tiny Mustard seed.

I believe the Kingdom of God dwells in each one of us and it starts with a tiny seed of "Faith" planted into our hearts. The seed soon turns to a plant and the plant becomes a big bush. In other words there's a process and like any other plant subjected to all types of temperature extremes (i.e.,problems in life, trials and persecutions), it needs to be taken cared of, strengthened and revitalized to have strong branches where birds can dwell(to spiritually enable us to help others to know Christ).

Another way to look at it is to think of the Kingdom of God as very small when it started. Remember the Twelve Apostles and later on the 72 disciples whom Jesus himself commissioned to spread the Kingdom of God? They started small but now there are more than 2.2 Billion Christians in the whole world and growing.(Source:Wikipedia 2010)

And like the yeast, the Kingdom of God expands and multiply its reach and continue to influence billions of people around the world. It's founder? None other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let's ask ourselves. Do we want to be a part of Jesus crusade? If you say yes, then help spread the "Word of God", in any way you can. Read the Bible, share what you have learned, attend Bible study or Bible sharing group in your community, if you don't have the time to do that, then log on to the Bible sharing online and post your reflection. Regardless of how you do it, the important thing to do is to do it.

Dear Lord, use me as your servant for your mission.

God bless us all more than we can ever imagine.
