Our Gospel for Oct 19. Blessed are the true servants.

Luke 12: 35-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”

In ancient times they divided the night into four watches in which they posted watchers. The 1st watch starts at 6PM, 2nd watch at 9PM, 3rd watch 12MN, and the 4rth watch 3AM to
day break.

Jesus said, we should all be prepared for His coming even at the time of our sleep and He will bless us. Dapat daw ay hindi tayo patulog tulog pag sya ay dumating sa buhay natin.

We should be on alert, ready to open ourselves when He knocks on our hearts, and ready to say, Lord Jesus be my Lord and my savior, please come into my life. I am ready to serve you.

A lot of people does not have an idea how fulfilling ones life would be if they have a serious relationship with Jesus.

He will protect us from worries, failures, sickness, paranoia, depression and many more earthly problems.

Let's maintain a close relationship with God if you want solutions to your problems.

Early this morning, we had a chance to visit Baclaran Chuch from Cavite City, after attending the wake of our dear Uncle Dolpho.

While inside the church, I saw a thick stack of prayer leaflets in one corner below the image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The letter stated that there is a miracle that will happen once I have reprinted and distributed 2000 copies of the said leaflets, and I assume I will just do the same way- to leave the printed copies in one corner of the church so that people will see it and read it.

I said to myself wow! That was easy, because it says that a person who have distributed only 500 copies won this much in a lottery, how much more if I will distribute more than 2000 copies of the prayer leaflets.

I told myself that I have no problem with the reprinting and the distribution of the prayer leaflets since it says about the goodness of our Mama Mary. However, while reading towards the end of the letter, it became clear to me that it is like a chain letter that if I don't do what it says in 10 days, I will be riddled with bad luck and so forth and so on.

Our blessings from God starts pouring in once we have a relationship with Him. It does not happen overnight or our problems can be solved by reprinting the prayer leaflets, distributing it everywhere so that people can read it (I have no problem with that) but my problem is if people will not comply to the instructions, do you think our God would allow bad things to happen to us? I don't think so. And I also don't want to become an instrument of misleading other people to think otherwise.

When you have a healthy relationship with God, you will not fall for these chain letters and empty promises.

There is only one source of blessings and it all comes from Him.

God bless us all more than we can imagine.

Amen!!

"A lot of people does not have an idea how fulfilling ones life would be if they have a serious relationship with Jesus"

This is very true. From my personal reflection, I can't imagine my life without my Savior Jesus Christ and not having a deep connection with Him. It is something that I am always and forever will be proud of. For me having a close relationship to God is more than meaningful. It is something beyond compare that I can't even explain.

This is also one lesson that contains faithfulness. And I always remind myself even in my prayers that I am His servant and He is my Master and that I know if I remain faithful to Him, He will be faithful to me too. And God has never failed me, though I know at times I have failed Him.

One time I read about His faithfulness and I liked the kind of explanation they provided. "Faithfulness is a key character trait of God and one that He expects of us. Fortunately God gives the grace and strength to be faithful. He also rewards faithfulness." Blessed are His servants who are pure and true and faithful to Him.

"Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life" (Revelation 2:10).

From this also, we can see that expectant watchfulness is the normal posture of a Christian. Jesus wants us to be ready for His return at any time, and as servants, we are in no position to determine when to expect Him. He will come when He will come, and we must be prepared to welcome Him whenever that happens to be.
