God so loved the world. Our Gospel for May 4, 2011

John 3:16-21


God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned,
but whoever does not believe has already been condemned,
because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
And this is the verdict,
that the light came into the world,
but people preferred darkness to light,
because their works were evil.
For everyone who does wicked things hates the light
and does not come toward the light,
so that his works might not be exposed.
But whoever lives the truth comes to the light,
so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.

Iniibig ng Diyos ang sanlibutan.


Juan 3:16-21


¹⁶Ito ay sapagkat sa ganitong paraan inibig ng Diyos ang sanlibutan kaya ipinagkaloob niya ang kaniyang bugtong na Anak upang ang sinumang sumampalataya sa kaniya ay hindi mapahamak kundi magkaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan. ¹⁷Ito ay sapagkat hindi sinugo ng Diyos ang kaniyang anak sa sanlibutan upang hatulan ang sanlibutan. Sinugo niya ang kaniyang anak upang ang sanlibutan ay maligtas sa pamamagitan niya. ¹⁸Siya na sumasampalataya sa kaniya ay hindi hinahatulan. Ang hindi sumasampalataya ay nahatulan na sapagkat siya ay hindi sumampalataya sa pangalan ng bugtong na Anak ng Diyos. ¹⁹Ito ang hatol: Ang ilaw ay dumating sa sanlibutan at inibig ng mga tao ang kadiliman kaysa sa ilaw sapagkat ang kanilang mga gawa ay masasama. ²⁰Ito ay sapagkat ang bawat isang gumagawa ng masama ay napopoot sa ilaw. Hindi siya lumalapit sa ilaw upang hindi malantad ang kaniyang mga gawa. ²¹Siya na nagsasagawa ng katotohanan ay pumupunta sa ilaw upang maihayag na ang kaniyang mga gawa ay ginawa sa pamamagitan ng Diyos.

John 14:6-14

Jesus said to Thomas, 

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, 

“Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.

Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. 

And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”

Kung hihingi kayo ng anumang bagay sa aking pangalan, gagawin ko iyon.

Juan 14: 6-14

⁶Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Ako ang Daan, ang Katotohanan at ang Buhay. Walang sinumang makakapunta sa Ama maliban sa pamamagitan ko. ⁷Kung ako ay kilala na ninyo, kilala na rin ninyo ang aking Ama. Mula ngayon ay kilala na ninyo siya at nakita na ninyo siya.
   
 ⁸Sinabi ni Felipe sa kaniya: Panginoon, ipakita mo sa amin ang Ama at iyon ay sapat na sa amin.
   
 ⁹Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Felipe, matagal nang panahon na ako ay kasama ninyo at hindi mo pa ako kilala? Ang nakakita sa akin ay nakakita na sa Ama. Bakit mo sinasabi: Ipakita mo sa amin ang Ama? ¹⁰Hindi ka ba sumasampalataya na ako ay nananahan sa Ama at ang Ama ay nananahan sa akin? Ang mga salitang sinasabi ko sa inyo ay hindi ko sinasabi sa ganang aking sarili. Ang Ama na nananahan sa akin, siya ang gumagawa ng mga gawain. ¹¹Sampalatayanan mo ako na ako ay sumasa Ama at ang Ama ay sumasa akin. Ngunit kung hindi, sumampalataya ka sa akin dahil sa mga gawa. ¹²Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa inyo: Siya na sumasampalataya sa akin ay gagawa rin ng mga gawang ginagawa ko. Higit na dakilang mga gawa kaysa sa mga ito ang gagawin niya sapagkat ako ay pupunta sa Ama. 

¹³Anuman ang inyong hingin sa pangalan ko, iyon ay gagawin ko upang maluwalhati ang Ama sa pamamagitan ng Anak. ¹⁴Kung hihingi kayo ng anumang bagay sa aking pangalan, gagawin ko iyon.

Born of the Spirit. Our Gospel for May 2, 2011

John 3:1-8


There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
He came to Jesus at night and said to him,
“Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one can do these signs that you are doing
unless God is with him.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” 
Nicodemus said to him,
“How can a man once grown old be born again? Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?” Jesus answered,
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born of water and Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.

What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit.
Do not be amazed that I told you,
‘You must be born from above.’
The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes;
so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”




Ipinanganak sa Espiritu.
Juan 3:1-8


 ¹May isang lalaki sa mga Fariseo na ang pangalan ay Nicodemo. Siya ay isang pinuno ng mga Judio. ²Pumunta siya kay Jesus nang gabi at sinasabi niya: Guro, alam namin na ikaw ay isang guro na mula sa Diyos. Ito ay sapagkat walang makakagawa ng mga tanda na iyong ginagawa malibang sumasakaniya ang Diyos.
   
 ³Tumugon si Jesus at sinabi sa kaniya: Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa iyo: Malibang ipanganak na muli ang isang tao, hindi niya maaaring makita ang paghahari ng Diyos.
   
 ⁴Itinanong ni Nicodemo sa kaniya: Papaano maipanganganak ang taong matanda na? Makakapasok ba siyang muli sa sinapupunan ng kaniyang ina at ipanganak?

   
 ⁵Sumagot si Jesus: Katotohanan, katotohanang sinasabi ko sa iyo: Malibang ang isang tao ay ipanganak ng tubig at ng Espiritu hindi siya makakapasok sa paghahari ng Diyos. ⁶Ang ipinanganak sa laman ay laman at ang ipinanganak sa Espiritu ay espiritu. ⁷Huwag kang magtaka sa sinabi ko sa iyo, kinakailangang ipanganak kang muli.⁸Ang hangin ay umiihip kung saan nito ibig. Naririnig mo ang ugong nito ngunit hindi mo alam kung saan ito nanggagaling at kung saan pupunta. Gayon ang bawat ipinanganak sa Espiritu.
   

Peace be with you. Our Gospel for May 1, 2011

John 20:19-31

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, 

“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
And when he had said this, 

he breathed on them and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
But he said to them,
“Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 

Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked,and stood in their midst and said, 

“Peace be with you.”

Then he said to Thomas, 

“Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
Thomas answered and said to him, 

“My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, 

“Have you come to believe because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Now, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

Nagpakita si Jesus sa Kaniyang mga Alagad

Juan 20:19-31

 Kinagabihan ng araw ding iyon, na unang araw ng sanlinggo, nagtipon ang mga alagad. Ipininid nila ang mga pinto dahil sa takot nila sa mga Judio at dumating si Jesus at tumayo sa kanilang kalagitnaan. Sinabi sa kanila: Kapayapaan ang sumainyo. Pagkasabi niya nito, ipinakita niya sa kanila ang kaniyang mga kamay at kaniyang tagiliran. Kaya nga, nagalak ang mga alagad nang makita nila ang Panginoon.

   
 Sinabi ngang muli ni Jesus sa kanila: Kapayapaan ang sumainyo. Kung papaano ako isinugo ng Ama, gayundin, isinusugo ko kayo. Pagkasabi niya nito, hiningahan niya sila at sinabi sa kanila: Tanggapin ninyo ang Banal na Espiritu. Ang kaninumang mga kasalanan na inyong pinatatawad ay ipinatatawad iyon sa kanila. Ang kaninumang mga kasalanan na hindi ninyo pinatatawad, ang mga ito ay hindi pinatatawad.

Si Tomas na isa sa labindalawang alagad ay tinatawag na Kambal. Hindi nila siya kasama nang dumating si Jesus. inabi nga ng ibang mga alagad sa kaniya: Nakita namin ang Panginoon.
   Sinabi niya sa kanila: Malibang makita ko ang tanda ng mga pako sa kaniyang mga kamay at mailagay ko ang aking mga daliri roon, at maipasok ko ang aking kamay sa kaniyang tagiliran, kailanman ay hindi ako maniniwala. 

   
 Makalipas ang walong araw, ang mga alagad ay nasa loob muli ng bahay at kasama nila si Tomas. Kahit na nakapinid ang mga pinto dumating si Jesus at tumayo sa gitna nila. At sinabi niya: Kapayapaan ang sumainyo. Pagkatapos noon, sinabi niya kay Tomas: Ilagay mo ang iyong daliri rito at tingnan mo ang aking mga kamay. Iabot mo ang iyong kamay rito at ipasok sa aking tagiliran. Huwag ka nang mag-alinlangan, kundi sumampalataya ka.
   
 Sumagot si Tomas at sinabi sa kaniya: Aking Panginoon at aking Diyos.
   
 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Tomas, sumampalataya ka dahil nakita mo ako. Pinagpala sila na hindi nakakita ngunit sumampalataya.
   
 Marami pang ibang mga tanda ang ginawa ni Jesus sa harapan ng kaniyang mga alagad. Ang mga ito ay hindi nasusulat sa aklat na ito. Ngunit ang mga ito ay sinulat upang kayo ay sumampalataya na si Jesus ang Mesiyas, ang Anak ng Diyos. At ang mga ito ay sinulat upang pagkatapos ninyong sumampalataya ay magkaroon kayo ng buhay sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang pangalan.
