Our Gospel for January 30. The Sermon on the Mount

Matthew 5:1-12a

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain,
and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
He began to teach them, saying:

The Beatitudes*

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be satisfied.Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

Ang Pangangaral sa Bundok

Mateo 5:1-12

mahabagin sapagkat kahahabagan sila.
akin. 12Magalak at magsaya kayong totoo sapagkat
malaki ang inyong gantimpala sa langit.

Beatitudes (Latin for Blessings)is one of my favorite Gospel. Poor in Spirit, Meek, Merciful, Clean of heart, Peacemakers, Persecuted...are some of the traits some considers "counter cultural" if we are to regard the competitive world that we live in at present.

Imagine being meek and humble in the business world where being number 1 is the mindset?

Imagine having a clean heart in a confusing world where "dog eats dog" attitude is the norm?

How about spreading the word of God in a country where the head of state is an "atheist." I'm pretty sure you will encounter persecution everywhere.

In the midst of all this world's confusion where the beatitudes is considered passe, weakness and attitudes of a "loser," we must always remember Jesus beatitudes and help one another to spread the word by being aggresive in attending more community prayer groups, attending more bible sharing activity and initiate spiritual community activities in your area to help spread Jesus blessings to everyone.

Any small bit of efforts driven toward the beatitudes, when done in great numbers will create multitude effects, and definitely will count bountiful blessings for everyone.

God bless us all forever!
