Our Gospel for Nov 28. The coming....

The Unknown Day and Hour.

Mt 24:37-44

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As it was in the days of Noah,
so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
In those days before the flood,
they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage,
up to the day that Noah entered the ark.
They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away.
So will it be also at the coming of the Son of Man.
Two men will be out in the field;
one will be taken, and one will be left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill;
one will be taken, and one will be left.
Therefore, stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

Walang Nakaaalam sa Araw at Oras

Mateo 24:37-44

Happy New Year to all!

November 28 is the first day of another Liturgical year of the Catholic Church all over the world and it begins at the onset of the First Sunday of Advent.

Catholic churches all over the world have these "Advent Wreath" at the altar with 4 big purple candles. An additional candle is lit during subsequent week until, by the last Sunday before Christmas. So today, is also the first Sunday of Advent.

Advent means the time of expectant waiting and preparation for the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.

Let me share with you the "WAIT" acronym which symbolizes the four important characteristics we should possess while waiting for the birth of our lord.

W- welcoming- our hearts should be open for charity, for forgiveness,for compassion, for love and service to others.

A- altruism- we should have a selfless concern for the welfare of others. Being alert for every possible opportunity to help others without expecting anything in return means serving God.

I- inspired- that our Lord Jesus Christ "Holy Spirit" dwells in us and that He takes care of us 24/7. This will make us more appreciative of the waiting for the coming of Jesus Christ and not only Santa Claus.

T- Thankful- being grateful and contented for all the blessings we have will truly make us happier this Christmas. Try to make a list of all your blessings against your perceived failures in life and you'll be surprised that your blessings always outnumbers your failures.

For the light to shine upon us this Christmas season, give love and you will never go wrong.

May God bless you all more than you can ever imagine.
